CiMa-Pak also carries a certain number of PP (polypropylene) trays. PP trays are plastic recycling number 5 that has its purpose in the ready meal tray market. The P2187-1V is a PP tray that is ideal for fresh or frozen meals, for restaurants, retail ready foods, meal delivery, institutions and distribution and transport of meals where reheating in the microwave is the preferred option. PP trays do not go into the oven.

PP trays are lightweight but can withstand temperatures between -20˚C up to 120˚C (-4˚F up to 248˚F) so hot filling is an option. Reheating meals can be done in the microwave only. PP trays are durable and resist cracking when frozen.

Our P2187-1V food container with with dimensions of 7.3” x 5.3” (187mm x 137mm) and volume of 22.27oz or 655ml might be the choice for your meal prep application, dips, sauces or bulk food preparation. PP trays are strong, flexible and economical for quick use. Sealed with a film, these PP trays are leakproof and tamper evident.

While PP is a recyclable plastic and normally readily accepted in home recycling, there are limitations. PP tends to be downcycled into non-food contact products due to contamination by food residue, barrier properties, labels etc. There is growing pressure and possibilities to recycle into rPP, a food grade PP material to close the loop in recycling.
